At your door (2006)There's no doubt that living in a small northern town has left an indelible mark on Yael's music. Still, At Your Door journeys from her own backyard and wanders the territories of the human heart: from the home of a moonshine maker to an exotic mid-eastern market, from the prayers of a lonely traveler to the promising return of spring. Embracing a fusion of influences, Yael brings jazzed-up and world-informed textures to her acoustic roots, all steeped with a beauty and spaciousness that echoes the wilderness of her northern home. She covers a wide musical territory, but grounds At Your Door with playful melodies, lyrical poetry and optimism. The album was co-produced by Yael and long time collaborators Sam Ryan and Adrian Lock of Vancouver's SOS Music. Joining Yael (vocals and guitar) are Sean Cronin on upright base, Christina Zaenker on cello, Aaron Joyce on lap guitars, and Adrian Lock on kit. A few more friends left their mark on the album including, Ken Whiteley (mandolin), Jesse Zubot (violin), James Hill on ukelele, Itamar Erez (acoustic guitar), Kent Wallace (horns), Stefan Cihelka (tabla and udu), and her own brother Ohad Wand on bass trombone.
