creative sorts:

Christina Zaenker- this is the lovely and talented zippy. we have been jamming, making music, choraling, as far back as the mid-80s (and we're not that old really, but somewhere there are some really embarrassing tapes to prove this). we are often found on stage together, either crackin up, arguing or making melodious angelic sounds. depends on the day.

Melisa Devost- Melisa Devost writes introspective and observant songs about life patterns and choices, love or lack of... sometimes mice creep up behind her during house concerts. sometimes she hangs out on hornby island under the ever mutating skies. she plays bass too, besides the other stuff that just make her cool.

James Hill- So how does a kid from Canada become what the Honolulu Star-Bulletin calls a "rare peer" of Hawaii's premier 'ukulelists?

james is not only ridiculously talented, he's also one of the nicest person you'll ever meet. until you meet his partner and cellist: Anne Davison - it's a tough calls as to who is nicer and more talented. i'm serious.

Rae Spoon- is a young artist who proudly follows in the time-honored tradition of the singers he respects. and then he traverses endlessly across canada and other countries and makes fans where ever he goes. there is a patch of floor at IMA that has the outline of Rae where he once fell.

Itamar Erez - when you hear itamar play the guitar you realize that he is a talented, passionate and diverse player. and then you hear him play the piano too. he performs all over the world and is currently based in Israel.

Ken Whiteley - Ken wears striped socks and has a song that you need to hear about how Mr. PG used to be made of wood but kept getting chopped down by hooligans. besides that he's an incredible talent on numerous instruments to, as well as a fantastic producer, he's got a great new cd you should check out called One World Dance.

Sara Ross - Red Sara rides the streets of Vancouver on two wheels.

Christopher Griffin - Ottawa based painter.

Rad Juli - leather and so much class.

Lindsay Read - beautiful Wells based painter.

places, things and groups

Island Mountain Arts- my favorite non profit arts organization. have you ever dreamed of studying painting, guitar, or harp (just to name a few) in a quiet little mountain town? working with a mentor during the day and taking your lunch break out in the meadow, with a quick dip in the williams creek? IMA puts on great courses in a full range of the visual and performing arts, as well as runs a public gallery, hosts concerts and produces the Artswells Festival. ok, i admit - i'm on the Board of Directors.

Wells, BC- we like to think of it as the little town that could. a tiny piece of paradise hidden just on the edge of the cariboo mountains. more art galleries per capita than any other place i've been too, and a lot of really friendly neighbourhood dogs too.  just down the road from Barkerville Historic Town (barkerville.ca), home of Artswells Festival, and the most creative place you have ever seem - in summertime. oh, and did i mention the spectacular winter cross country skiing trails?

SOS Music - Sam and Adrian look tough, but i know they like sushi. they like sushi a lot. and they can whip up a piece of music to shake yer booty and make you weep at the same time. among other things, i recorded At Your Door and Antinomy with them.

Touch Wood Rings - beautiful hand crafted rings made or exotic and endemic woods. made in the Chilcotan.

Amazing Space Gallery - robust flying women, delicate hand crafted wild flower paper and a real cappuccino to boot. What else would expect from a catholic church turned art gallery owned by artists Bill Horne and Claire Kujundzic?

Robson Valley Music Festival - the best little festival in Dunster - much like spending a fantastic weekend in your friend's garden paradise.

Oresta's - a fabulous lil spa in Ottawa specializing in organic skin care.

The Living Closet - i'm amazed this is still out there floating. LC is where i first began performing, organizing, producing events... ah...
